The American Boat and Yacht Council has created the gold standard in Marine Service Technician training programs, and is looking to expand our pool of instructors to teach our certification courses. ABYC adjunct instructors deliver course content in both classroom environments as well as remotely through online presentations. ABYC instructors can expect to teach multiple courses a year at varying times/ locations. We are currently hiring for instructors who are skilled in all of our current certifications, which are: ABYC Standards, Marine Systems, Marine Corrosion, Marine Electrical, Diesel Engines, Gasoline Engines, and Advanced Marine Electrical.
Have a thorough understanding of all topics included in the course material
Be familiar with the mission and vision of the ABYC
Lead students through the course presentations and answer all applicable questions
Staying updated on changing applicable standards and how they effect a technician
Having access to suitable and reliable wifi service as well as capable computer equipment and webcam for online teaching.
Following all exam proctoring guidelines for in person classes
For in person classes: travel to location and instruct 3-4 days then administer exam
For online interactive classes the schedules vary, but usually 1.5 hours in the morning or afternoon, 3 days a week for 3 weeks.
Be a resource for students throughout the course, and beyond for those testing online
Desired Skills and Experience:
Hold current ABYC Certifications (master technician a plus)
5-10 years working in the marine service field
Comfortable and confident presenting to a diverse class of students both in person and online
Proficient with Microsoft Office especially PowerPoint
Experience utilizing online conference software such as GoToWebinar or Zoom
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Flexible schedule and desire to make boating safer
